If the musical exchanges between South America and Europe are important during the Baroque era, they do not run out of steam in the following centuries, reaching their peak in the early twentieth century. Brazilian Heitor Villa-Lobos died in Rio de Janeiro after travelling to the heart of his country and especially in the Amazon to encounter the music of different peoples. He also went to Paris from 1923 to 1930 where he discovered the wealth European heritage. He is, with Darius Milhaud, one of the most prolific composers in the music history.
