European Composer's Contest 2015 - Final
Final zum Europäischen Kompositionswettbewerb 2015, vom Donnerstag, 30. April 2015, unter Mitwirkung der Jugend Brass Band Nordrhein-Westfahlen unter der Leitung von Chefdirigent Martin Schädlich und der European Youth Brass Band 2015 (EYBB) unter der Leitung von Chefdirigent Professor Uwe Köller.
Der Europäische Brass Band Verband (EBBA) führt im Rahmen des Eurofestivals 2015 als sogenannter „Side Event“ den 6. European Composer’s Contest 2015 durch. An diesem Wettbewerb können junge Komponisten bis zum Erreichen des 35. Altersjahr teilnehmen und ihr neues Werk für Brass Band einreichen. Eine Jury bewertet die eingesandten Kompositionen und ermittelt die 3 besten Kompositionen, welche am Final vom 30. April 2015 zur Endausscheidung im Rolf Böhme Saal zur Aufführung durch die Jugend Brass Band Nordrhein-Westfalen und der Leitung von Chefdirigent Martin Schädlich gelangen werden. Ein Team aus international bekannten und renommierten Experten wird die Kompositionen offen, d.h. mit Sicht auf die Bühne bewerten und den Gewinner ermitteln. Der Anlass ist öffentlich und
das Publikum wird Gelegenheit erhalten, einen Publikumspreis zu vergeben.
Der Chefdirigent Martin Schädlich absolvierte von 2001 bis 2006 ein Diplomstudium am Konservatorium in Mainz mit Hauptfach „Trompete“ bei Malte Burba und parallel dazu ein Diplomstudium „Jazz“ an der Johannes-Gutenberg-Universität in Mainz bei Axel Schlosser, welches er im Sommer 2007 abschloss. Ab 2004 besuchte er den B-Lehrgang des Volksmusikerbundes NRW, ein Aufbaulehrgang für Blasorchesterdirigenten, bei Walter Ratzek und schloss in 2006 als Lehrgangsbester ab.
Aktuell lebt er als freiberuflicher Trompeter und Dirigent in Köln und leitet neben der Brass Band Düren noch das Blasorchester Birkesdorf, das symphonische Blasorchester „Brass in Concert“ aus Mönchengladbach sowie die Jugend Brass Band Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Als Trompeter und Kornettist spielt er unter anderem bei folgenden Orchestern : Musikkorps Hambach, Big Band „What Else“ der Musikschule Jülich, Brass Band Düren, Landesjugendblasorchester NRW, Europäisches Jugendblasorchester, Würzburger Jazzorchester, Hochschulbigbands Mainz und Frankfurt, Junge deutsche Blechbläsersolisten, GCO Big Band Köln.....
Den zweiten Teil dieses Konzertabends wird die Europäische Jugend Brass Band 2015 unter der Leitung ihres Chefdirigenten Professor Uwe Köller bestreiten. Seit 2000 führt organisiert die EBBA im Rahmen des Europäischen Brass Band Wettbewerbes eine Europäische Jungend Brass Band.
Die Europäische Jugend Brass Band (EYBB) wird bereits zum 13. Mal durchgeführt und wird unter der Leitung von Uwe Köller, Professor an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz und Mitglied des Blechbläser Ensembles „German Brass“ stehen. Diese Band bildet sich aus jungen Blechbläsern und Schlagzeugern im Alter zwischen 17 und 21 Jahren aus allen Ländern Europas. Sie treffen am Samstag, 25. April 2015 in Staufen in der Musikakademie des BDB Bund Deutscher Blasmusikverbände ein und bringen in 4 Tagen ein interessantes, anspruchsvolles und unterhaltsames Konzertprogramm zur Aufführungsreife. Am Samstag werden mittels Vorspiel die wichtigen Positionen der Band besetzt.
Am Donnerstagabend wird die Band dann im Rolf Böhme Saal im Konzerthaus in Freiburg ihr erarbeitetes Konzertprogramm einem breiten und internationalen Publikum präsentieren.
Der Chef-Dirigent: Uwe Köller begann seinen Trompetenunterricht 1978. Im Zuge seiner musikalischen Ausbildung wurde er Stipendiat der Herbert-von-Karajan-Stiftung. Seine Karriere als Solo-Trompeter begann er im Symphonischen Orchester Berlin, ab 1991 war er an der Deutschen Oper Berlin tätig. Ab 1997 lehrte Uwe Köller als Gastprofessor an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz. 1999 verließ er dann die Deutsche Oper Berlin gänzlich zugunsten seiner Lehrtätigkeit in Graz als Professor für Trompete. Zusätzlich ist er Lehrer für Trompete an der Folkwang-Hochschule Essen. Im Jahr 2000 gründete er die Austrian-Brass-Band nach englischem Vorbild und installierte sie an der Kunstuniversität Graz, ebenso rief er an der Folkwang-Hochschule die Folkwang-Brass-Band ins Leben. Seit 1995 ist Uwe Köller festes Mitglied der Formation German Brass. Seit Oktober 2012 ist Uwe Köller Kapellmeister der Stadtkapelle Friedberg.
Final of the
European Composer’s Contest 2015
on 30th April 2015, with performances by the Youth Brass Band Northrhine-Westfalia under the baton of its chief conductor Martin Schädlich, and the European Youth Brass Band 2015 (EYBB) with their chief conductor Professor Uwe Köller.
The European Brass Band Association (EBBA) presents within the frame work of the Eurofestival 2015 as its “Side event” the 6th European Composer’s Contest. In this contest young composers up the age of 35 years can introduce one of their newest and not yet published compositions for original Brass Band. A team of adjudicators will evaluate such compositions and select the three best pieces to enter the final, which will take place on the evening of the 30th April 2015 in the Rolf Böhme Saal of the Konzerthaus in Freiburg. Such compositions will be performed for the first time in public by the Youth Brass Band Northrhine-Westfalia under the baton of its chief conductor Martin Schädlich. A Team of internationally well known and respected adjudicators will openly - meaning with a full view of the stage - evaluate and select the winning composition. This event is open to the public and all visitors will have the possibility to allocate an Audience price to their most favorite composer.
The chief conductor
Martin Schädlich
studied from 2001 through to 2006 trumpet at the Conservatorium of Mainz with Malte Burba where he received his diploma. In parallel he undertook his jazz studies at the Johannes-Gutenberg-University of Mainz with Axel Schlosser where he received his diploma in 2007.
In 2004 he entered the educational program of the Band Association of Nordrhine-Westfalia in band conducting in the class of Walter Ratzek and passed its exam in 2006 with excellence.
At present he is active as a freelance trumpeter and conductor in Cologne and is chief conductor of the Brass Band Düren, the Windorchestra Birkensdorf, the Symphonic Windorchestra “Brass in Concert” from Mönchengladbach and the Youth Brass Band Northrhine-Westfalia.
As a trumpeter and cornetist he plays in various bands like: Musikcorps Hambach, Big Band “What Else” of the music school Jülich, Brass Band Düren, Landesjugendblasorchester Northrhine-Westfalia, European Youth Wind Orchestra, Würzburger Jazz-Orchestra, Big Bands of the Universities of Mainz and Frankfurt, Junge deutsche Blechbläsersolisten, GCO Big Band Cologne….
The second part of the evening will feature the
European Youth Brass Band 2015
conducted by its chief conductor Professor Uwe Köller. EBBA is organizing since 2000 within the framework of the European Brass Band Championships the gathering of the European Youth Brass Band.
The European Youth Brass Band 2015 (EYBB) will be the 13th edition of this international set up of a Youth Brass Band and will be conducted by Uwe Köller, Professor at the University of Music and Arts in Graz and member of the internationally well known Brass Ensemble “German Brass”. The Band is formed by young musicians hailing from various European Countries within the range of 17 to 21 years. They will gather on Saturday 25th April 2015 in the Music Academy of the BDB Bund Deutscher Blasmusikverbände in Staufen and will prepare within 4 intensive days of training a full and demanding concert program. On the day of arrival in Staufen the important seats in the band will be allocated to the musicians through audition.
On Thursday night the Band will present their concert program to an international audience in the Rolf Böhme Saal of the Konzerthaus in Freiburg.
The chief conductor
Uwe Köller
began his education with the trumpet in 1978. During his studies of music he received a scholarship with the Herbert-von Karajan-Foundation. He started his career as Solo Trum-peter as member of the Symphonic Orchestra Berlin and in 1991 he started his work at the “Deutsche Oper” in Berlin. 1997 he began his lecturing career as Guest professor at the University of Music and Arts in Graz and in 1999 he ended his job at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and became full time Professor for trumpet the University of Music an Arts in Graz. Additionally he is lecturer for trumpet at the Folkwang-University Essen. In 2000 he started the Austrian Brass Band at the University in Graz and founded as well a new Brass Band at the Folkwang-University in Essen. Since 1995 he has been a full time member of the internationally well known und respected Brass Ensemble “German Brass”. In October 2012 Uwe Köller took over the position of the Chief Conductor of the Stadtkapelle Friedberg.
