the-keller-theatre-giessen
Founded in 1958, the Keller Theatre is the oldest English-language theatre in Germany. It was run by the American forces as part of their entertainment branch. The name originates from the first space used - the basement of the Miller Hall in Giessen. It was always open to anyone who wanted to participate in community theatre, the "Keller family", regardless of their nationality or language background. When the Giessen base was closed in 2007, the theatre passed into the hands of the friends of the Keller Theatre e.V. We continued the good work without a break, using facilities in various parts of the town. Our "home" is the Kleine Bühne, where most of our shows are staged.
It is our policy to offer quality performances at affordable prices. We perform four plays per season and also offer music evenings and readings. We hold open auditions for most of our shows. Everyone is welcome to try out - if you have acting experience, fine - but if you don't, that's fine, too. Some of us have been active for decades, others are still new - we need everybody.
