SISTAH AWA ist die Tochter eines senegalesischen Vaters und einer italienischen Mutter. Ihre musikalische Reise beginnt 2010, als sie anfängt mit ihrer Tante Soul, Blues und Reggae zu singen – damals noch rein akustisch. 2013 gründen die beiden eine Reggae-Band unter dem Namen Shame & Skandal. Im Augenblick arbeiten sie an zwei Singles, die von Paolo Baldini gemixt und produziert werden, bald sollen auch Videos erscheinen. 2014 entscheidet sich die erst 19jährige Sängerin außerdem für ein neues Projekt, ihre Solo-Karriere. Awa lernt die Eazy Skankers Band kennen, eine der wichtigsten italienischen Reggae-Bands. Mit dieser Band ist Awa viel auf Tour, 2015 treten sie auf dem Overjam Festival in Slowenien vor Raphael & Max Romeo auf. Im gleichen Jahr spielen sie außerdem die Eröffnung für die Konzerte von Barrington Levy und Max Romeo in Italien. Januar 2016 erscheint das gemeinsame Album „Inna dis ya Iwa“. SISTAH AWA liebt nicht nur klassischen Reggae, sondern auch Dub und ist oft auf Auftritten des Soundsystems von DreadLion Hi.Fi am Mikrofon zu hören. Außerdem hat sie einige Tunes für Sista Habesha eingesungen. Auf Alpha Steppas erster eigener LP „Rooted&Grounded“ steuert sie Gesang für den Tune 'Teachings' bei, für Zion Train 'InI Shall Rise'.
Sistah Awa was born in Bergamo, Italy, in 1996 from a Senegalese father and an Italian mother. Her musical journey began in 2010, starting to sing soul, blues and original reggae music with her aunt (in acoustic style). In 2013 they decided to found a reggae band, called Shame & Skandal, now they're working on two singles produced & mixed by Paolo Baldini.... Soon they'll be out, also with videos. 2014 Awa decided to start a new project as a solo singer, too. She met the Eazy Skankers band, one of most important reggae bands in Italy. Together they travelled a lot and in 2015, they performed at the Overjam Festival on the main stage opening to Raphael & Max Romeo. In the same year they were the opening act for Barrington Levy and Max Romeo in Italy, too, and they are now working on an album called "Inna dis ya Iwa" (out on January 2016, produced by Andrea Bottaro with the support of Walter 'Bonnot' Buonanno, released by Good Fellas and mixed by Samuel Nkereuwem). Sistah Awa really does love dub music, so she started to sing alongside DreadLion Hi.Fi in Italy and she did different tunes with Sista Habesha. Thanks to sister Dasha Fyah she got to know two of the largest dub producers, Alpha Steppa & Zion Train with whom she worked on two tunes out in 2015 : 'Teachings' (on Alpha Steppa's debut album Rooted&Grounded) and 'InI Shall Rise' (Zion Train).
