Die Mondmaschine: Teichmann Brothers & Guests from Mexico, Panama, Guatemala and Costa Rica
For two weeks, the Teichmann brothers worked with Can “Khan” Oral, eight musicians from Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and Guatemala and the video art duo + viral inc. in the Mexican village Malinalco on a jodorowskyesquely surreal poetic music film: Die Mondmaschine. The Teichmanns are a fixture in the Berlin club scene since the 1990s. Together with their international collaborators, they perform the film and its soundtrack live, featuring underground icons Gudrun Gut and Krautrock pioneer Hans-Joachim Irmler.
We All Break
Avant jazz and Haitian rhythms: Ches Smith, a highly regarded drummer from the New York jazz world, who has also played with various avant-garde and noise rock bands, has been exploring Haiti’s musical tradition for many years now. This forms the foundation of his jazz compositions for We All Break. With Daniel Brevil and Markus Schwartz, masters at Haitian percussion, and jazz pianist Matt Mitchell, Smith develops a rhythmic language all his own: playfully improvised and complexly nuanced.

Insight into the universe of this eccentric pioneer of dub
The Upsetter: Lee “Scratch” Perry isconsidered the inventor of dub. Filmmaker Volker Schaner accompanied the eccentric artist for fifteen years, to London, Ethiopia, Jamaica, and to a Swiss mountain town. He gains insights into the artist’s metaphysical universe, with the master’s own words on his struggle of “good over evil,” visits to the Black Ark Studio, where the legendary recordings with Bob Marley were made, psychedelic animation sequences, and interviews with musicians like Ashley Beedle, Adrian Sherwood, and The Orb.
