Panel Discussion | The Transatlantic Community of Values: Does it Still Exist? | 05.02.2019 18:00 Uhr – 21:00 Uhr
The notion that the framework of common transatlantic values and rules is currently under threat is widespread. What does this notion actually mean? On what shared political beliefs and institutions was this “community of values” based in the first place, does it still exist, and, if so, what might the future of such beliefs and institutions be? These questions will be debated by Gerhard Casper (Stanford), Anne-Marie Descôtes (Paris/Berlin), Klaus von Dohnanyi (Hamburg), and Christopher Hill (Denver) during a panel discussion moderated by Mitchell G. Ash (Vienna). The participants will also address the values these institutions express as well as their practical reflection in international and domestic social and economic politics. In Cooperation with the American Academy in Berlin.
