Museum of Lungs - Englisch m. deutschen ÜT / Im Anschluss: Artist Talk

“Museum of Lungs” basiert auf der persönlichen Geschichte der südafrikanischen Autorin und Performerin Stacy Hardy: Acht Jahre lang lebte sie mit einem undiagnostizierten Leiden, bis die Ärzte feststellten, dass sie an Tuberkulose erkrankt war. In der Regie von Laila Soliman aus Kairo erzählt Hardy ihre Geschichte im gesellschaftlich-historischen Kontext Südafrikas. Sie thematisiert den Körper in Bezug auf ‚race‘, Geschlecht und die systemische Gewalt von Gesundheits- und Politiksystemen. Zentrale Elemente bilden die Livemusik von den Musiker*innen Neo Muyanga und Nancy Mounir sowie eine Doppelgänger-Puppe von Stacy Hardy.

“Museum of Lungs” is based on the personal story of the South African writer and performer Stacy Hardy: For eight years she suffered with an undiagnosed condition until doctors determined that she had tuberculosis. Under the direction of Laila Soliman from Cairo, Hardy tells her story in the socio-historical context of South Africa. She thematises the body with respect to race, gender and the systematic violence of the healthcare and political systems. A central element is the live music by the musicians Neo Muyanga and Nancy Mounir, as is a doppelgänger puppet of Stacy Hardy.
