#PUNK 100% POP *N!GGA

nora chipaumire’s “#PUNK 100% POP *N!GGA” is a three-part live-performance album drawn from her formative years in the Zimbabwe of the 1970s, 80s and 90s. As always, her stunning choreography examines the representation and experience of status and power. Her new triptych is inspired by three iconic artists: Patti Smith and the resistive spirit of punk; Grace Jones and the idea of a pop culture accessible to all; and from the Congolese musician Rit Nzele she borrows the language of the rumba, so as to ask what constitutes Black African identity.
