Eine feierliche Rückkehr:
Vor einem Jahrzehnt ehrte das Buchmann-Mehta-Sinfonieorchester das 100-jährige Bestehen der Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität mit einem Auftritt unter der Leitung von Maestro Zubin Mehta. Nun kehrt es zum 110-jährigen Jubiläum nach Frankfurt zurück und setzt diese Tradition mit seinem Jubiläumskonzert im hr Sendesaal fort.
Der Abend beginnt mit Paul Ben-Haims transzendentem „Psalm“ aus seiner Symphonie Nr. 1. Gespielt von der Solistin Romy Nevo folgt Beethovens Klavierkonzert Nr. 3 in c-Moll. Mit seinen dramatischen Kontrasten und seiner lyrischen Schönheit spiegelt es Beethovens Genie und Nevos Virtuosität. Das Programm gipfelt in Beethovens Symphonie Nr. 3, der „Eroica“.
Über die Buchmann-Mehta School of Music:
Die 2005 gegründete Buchmann-Mehta School of Music ist eine einzigartige Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Universität Tel Aviv und dem Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. Die Schule widmet sich der Ausbildung der nächsten Generation von Ausnahmemusikern, von denen viele internationale Anerkennung erlangt haben, darunter Lahav Shani, der derzeitige Musikdirektor des Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
Das Sinfonieorchester:
Das Sinfonieorchester der Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, das aus 100 begabten Studenten besteht, ist für seine Kunstfertigkeit und Präzision bekannt. Unter der Leitung von Maestro Zubin Mehta und anderen namhaften Dirigenten ist das Orchester auf renommierten Bühnen in der ganzen Welt aufgetreten, unter anderem in der Sala Sao Paulo, im Auditorio Nacional di Musica in Madrid und im Konzerthaus in Berlin. Weitere Musiker, die mit dem Orchester zusammengearbeitet haben, sind u.a.: Christoph von Dohnanyi, Manfred Honeck, Ivan Fischer, Gianandrea Noseda, die Solisten Yo Yo Ma, Maxim Vengerov, Julian Rachlin und viele andere.
Das strenge Ausbildungsprogramm des Orchesters umfasst eine enge Zusammenarbeit mit den Solisten des Israel Philharmonic Orchestra und Meisterkurse mit renommierten Gastkünstlern.

Star conductor Zubin Mehta honors Goethe University
An extraordinary highlight for fans of classical music is arising: Maestro Zubin Mehta will conduct the anniversary concert to mark the 110th anniversary of the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in the Hessischer Rundfunk broadcasting hall. The star conductor had already performed with the entire symphony orchestra of the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (BMSM), which he founded together with Josef Buchmann at Tel Aviv University, in 2014 to celebrate the university´s 100th jubilee. Now Zubin Mehta is making a rare guest appearance and is returning to Frankfurt with the BMSM Symphony Orchestra - a concert event that his many fans have had to wait a long time for.
The evening begins with Paul Ben-Haim’s transcendent “Psalm” from his Symphony No. 1, followed by Beethoven´s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C minor, playes by soloist Romy Nevo. With its dramatic contrasts and lyrical beauty, it reflects Beethoven’s genius and Nevo’s virtuosity. The program crowns with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 3, the “Eroica”.
About the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music:
The Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (BMSM) was founded through the friendship between Zubin Mehta and philanthropist Josef Buchmann. Together they founded an academic music school at Tel Aviv University in 2005, which quickly gained international recognition. Its graduates come from many countries around the world and enjoy a demanding education in the talent factory of the famous Israel Philharmonic Orchestra (IPO). Maestro Mehta was the artistic director of both institutions until recently. One of his students has now succeeded him: shooting star Lahav Shani, now Artistic Director of the BMSM and the IPO and newly promoted Chief Conductor of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
The Symphony Orchestra:
The Symphony Orchestra of Buchmann-Mehta School of Music consists of 100 most talented students at the institution. It is praised for its great artistry and precision.
Under the direction of Maestro Zubin Metha and other renowned conductors, the orchestra has performed on prestigious stages around the world, including the Tonhalle Zurich, the Sala Sao Paulo, the Auditorio Nacional di Musica in Madrid and the Konzerthaus in Berlin. A variety of musicians who have worked with the orchestra include: Christoph von Dohnanyi, Manfred Honeck, Ivan Fischer, Gianandrea Noseda, and the soloists Yo-Yo Ma, Maxim Vengerov, and Julian Rachlin and many others. The orchestra’s intensive training program includes close collaboration with the soloists of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra and master classes with famous guest artists.
