Hezron Chetty ist ein Violinist, Komponist und Performer bekannt für seinen innovativen Stil, gespeist aus Folk/Weltmusik, Rock, Jazz und Spoken-Word. Bei seinen intensiven Live-Auftritten verbindet der Südafrikaner mit indischen Wurzeln rhythmische Violinen-Loops mit Storytelling und interaktiven Elementen. Das Publikum wird direkt angesprochen und in eine Konversation verwickelt. Es entsteht eine intime Atmosphäre, die klassischen Konzertrahmen transzendiert.
Chetty hat über die Jahre in unzähligen Konstellationen musiziert, ist viel gereist und international getourt. Er war Support für Künstler*innen wie Incubus, Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy), Jocelyn Brown (Incognito), Finley Quaye, Paco Sery (Jaco Pastorius, Joe Zawinul) und Vieux Farka Touré. Seine Arrangements und Kompositionen finden sich auf Film-Soundtracks und Releases verschiedenster Genres – von Ambient und Folk-Pop bis hin zu Psychedelic-Rock und Afro-Punk.
Seit 2015 hat Hezron Chetty vier Solo-Alben veröffentlicht. Zuletzt erschien „I Am Death, I Am Breath, I Am Life” (2024), eine autobiografische Reise in Album- und Buch-Form.
Hezron Chetty lebt aktuell in Berlin.
