The Management Symphony – das sind rund 100 Führungskräfte der deutschen Wirtschaft, die leidenschaftlich gerne auf hohem Niveau musizieren. Zu ihrer jährlichen Probenphase mit Konzert laden sie als Coach und Gastgeber renommierte Orchester ein. In dieser Saison das hr-Sinfonieorchester und seinen Chefdirigenten Alain Altinoglu. Das Ergebnis der gemeinsamen Arbeit ist in diesem Konzert zu erleben, das eine Sinfonie präsentiert, die einst ein Aufbruch war in eine neue Welt, eine romantische wie fantastische. Die »Symphonie fantastique« hat ein Künstlerleben als Programm, das Publikum ist hautnah dabei. Und es erlebt einen Klangrausch, wie es ihn bis dahin noch nicht gab, so plastisch, so klangmächtig und drastisch. Dieser Künstler ist einer angebeteten Frau verfallen, erlebt sie auf einem Ball im Walzertaumel, sucht Ruhe auf einer Landpartie, hat im Opiumrausch Visionen von seiner Hinrichtung – und träumt schließlich von seiner Grablegung, begleitet von Hexen und Fratzen, von Totenglocken und einem parodierten »Dies irae«. Die schwarze Romantik mit all ihren Dämonen tritt ein in die Musik ihrer Zeit – auch das ein Verdienst, das Berlioz mit seiner wahrlich fantastischen Sinfonie zukommt.

The Management Symphony is made up of around 100 German business leaders who are passionate about making music at a high level. They invite renowned orchestras to coach and host their annual rehearsal phase and concert. This season, the Frankfurt Radio Symphony and its Music Director Alain Altinoglu. The result of their joint work can be experienced in this concert, which presents a symphony that was once a departure into a new world, both romantic and fantastic. The »Symphonie fantastique« has an artist´s life as its program, the audience is up close and personal. And they experience a frenzy of sound the likes of which had never been seen before, so vivid, so powerful and drastic. This artist has fallen in love with an adored woman, sees her waltzing at a ball, seeks peace and quiet on a country trip, has visions of his execution while intoxicated with opium – and finally dreams of his burial, accompanied by witches and grimaces, death bells and a parodied »Dies irae«. Black Romanticism with all its demons enters the music of its time – another merit that Berlioz deserves with his truly fantastic symphony.
