I am Oak
I am Oak is a Dutch indie-folk band founded by singer-songwriter Thijs Kuijken. The band was formed in 2008 and has since carved out a notable place in the Dutch music scene. With introspective lyrics, folky guitars, and dreamy melodies, I am Oak has built a loyal fan base and received widespread critical acclaim both in the Netherlands and abroad.
Their debut album On Claws (2010) marked the start of a successful career. This was followed by six albums and five EPs, over 500 shows in 17 countries, a 3voor12 Award, and more than 100 million streams. Regarding the album Osmosis (2019), the press wrote the following:

The band continues to grow and evolve, consistently winning over new listeners and admirers with timeless and moving music. Over the years, their style has broadened and at times become louder, yet they have never lost sight of what makes I am Oak unique: restrained folk music with guitar at its core.
After three years, I am Oak is now releasing new music with a new album on the horizon. The Way I See It is the first single from their new album Time Drifts, set to be released in 2025. Themes such as aging, observing the passage of time, and reflecting on life so far play a central role in the new intimate and poetic songs written by Thijs Kuijken.
