The Phamtree...

Live soulpower, jazzitude and hiphop flavor: "Oh, That's Fo' Sure!"

The band formed in 2006 when Len Short (vocals) and Mop (drums) met at college to find out they would share a great passion for music. Len had already worked on several projects before, performing and recording with other artists and bands at the venues and studios of Germany.

Shortly after, Mop and Len were joined by Osoda (keys) and Hauke Hanssen (bass). The original formation gave their live debut in September 2006 in Hamburg, Germany. After leaving the band in summer 2007, Hanssen was soon replaced by Jay Kopelli, who played in a funk-rock trio around town before. Also, one of Hannover’s finest guitarists, Nik Reinicke, who had met Len at a show in 2005, would become part and parcel of The Phamtree as well.

Playing many shows they were soon known for being an ambitious and hard rocking live band that has a soul, blues and jazz approach to hiphop music.

Keyboardist Osoda resigned from the band due to personal differences in 2008. Even though everybody else in the band felt like this was as much of a loss as a release, the incident did not keep the rest of the group from continuing. In order to step forward and turn a page, they released their first single "Dream With Me" which was recorded with and co-written by Osoda. Proving their reputation as one of the roughest live acts in town, they went back on the map to kick out the jams and burn the last drop of fossil fuel out of live-band hiphop. Their debut album, recorded and mixed in their own studio, is due in 2009.
