Fergus

Fergus Holmes the youngest of six children was born in Dublin, Ireland on the 5th.December 1952. During the family's formative years Father, Gerry, soon saw the musical talent his children possessed and channeled it by teaching them how to sing in perfect harmony. It didn't take long before they were singing in six different languages to audiences all over Ireland, making numerous appearences on Radio and Television. Within twelve months the Singing Holmes Family, as they were known, were a household name throughout the whole of Ireland. In 1964 they recorded their first Long Playing Record. One year later they were offered a six month tour that would embrace a hundred cities in the USA culminating with an appearance on the then famous Ed Sullivan Show. In 1966 the family moved to England where Fergus carried on alone after a number of years singing with a folk group made up of the now disbanded Singing Holmes Family In 1973 Fergus was offered a five week singing tour of the holiday resorts in North Africa. In 1976, after moving to Germany, he met up with some musicians in Hannover and together with them formed the band Head Over Heels His ten years with the band helped Fergus develop his style and musical direction as reflected in the band's Don't You Wonder'LP . His musical output, however, was not restricted to merely writing or co-writing most of the tracks for this album, but also included translating lyrics over the years for Heinz Rudolf Kunze and Hermann van Veen. During his years with Head Over Heels, the band toured with many stars from America including Waylen Jennings, The Bellamy Brothers and Hoyt Exton. When he left the band Fergus began to sing and play on his own and has been doing so since then. He appeared in front of millions on the very popular Saturday night TV Show "The Rudi Carrel Show" singing "The Lady In Red" by Chris de Burgh. In 1994 when his Mother died Fergus joined once more with the family to produce a tribute CD based on the original Holmes Family Record called 'Going Home Again' ,in rememberance of his Mother. The following year the family members joined Fergus in concert at Nienberg Hornwerk Theatre singing once more as a family. In the intervening years since his departure from 'Head Over Heels' his CD releases have included, The Chosen Three , Water and wine, The House is Still The Same. and recently[2004] The Cowboy In Me.
