Konrad Korabiewski – short biography

Born 1978 – self-taught audiovisual artist and performer

Konrad Korabiewski is a serious and experimental artist. He is an avangardist and known as an outsider who in his search after artistic depth has developed his own personal, musical expression. Konrad Korabiewski is originally from Poland but has living in Denmark since 1991.

Not only is he crossing borders nationally, in his music as well he is joggling with, and mixing elements from electro-acustic composition-music with soundinstallation and experiments with classical instruments and other soundmakers, resulting in international collaborations with other artists and pieces of work ranging from audiovisual opera variations to experimantal multimedia projects, concerts and installations. Lately at Copenhagen Jazzfestival, Norberg and Wundergrund festival.

The musical way of expression can be caracterised as both playfull, ambient, twisting, subtle, minimalistic and refreshingly free of conventions. Konrads approach to music is that of creating an original vibe, scenic, cinematic atmospheres, caracterisedby reflection, emotionality, and experiment. One could call him rather uncompromising. The release of his long expected debutalbum ‘Stateless’ (Spring 08) underlines his complecs and distinct artistic caracter and is well reviewed for its originality, creativity and depth by the Danish press.

The need for variation and experiment is also highly visible at Korabiewskis liveperformances, where he involves other actors to add layers and new dimensions to his music. Often he is also integrating other ways of expression such as videoart and latest his socialrealistic, Danish texts/lyrics in his nuanced univers, and is in that way, playing with several senses.

At the moment Konrad Korabiewski is finishing his latest project and release “Påvirket Som Kun Et Menneske Kan Være” (‘Affected As Only A Human Being Can Be’). An audiovisual, artistic crossover work, combining several media - sound and picture (illustrations by the artist Litten) in a physical book with a build in sound (-source). To be released this fall.
