Last Ditch On The Left
Born in the Autumn of 2009; from an urgency, mingling equal parts controversy and good ol´ prairie gumption; Last Ditch On The Left was a necessary consequence from the determined bent of Kerri Stephens and Brent Warren. A collaboration rife with as much genuine ease as disdainful tension, the varied musical backgrounds and influences lend to impart a sort of present-day, nostalgic sensibility. Old and new. Easy though difficult. Sweet but sour. What exploits lay in the road for this young partnership will be deterred only by law and couth.
Winnipeg duo Last Ditch On The Left bring a chemistry to their music and live performance that is impossible to deny. This allure; along with their haunting harmonies, and their songs that focus on love, love lost, tragedy, and social issues; has been the enduring force in this year of change, challenge, and consummation.
2014 has been everything that was hoped when Last Ditch On The Left departed Winnipeg as part of the Via Rail Artist On Board program, en route to Toronto to record their highly anticipated debut album with Juno nominated producer David Baxter in March. April and May saw them on a fortuitous tour of Germany and Switzerland, supporting Canadian troubadour Matt Epp and further expanding their market landscape.
After a summer of festival performances, a recent sponsorship from Dr. Martens, and the furtive construction of their album drop, a HomeRoutes house concert circuit tour of Alberta in October was followed by their hometown album release extravaganza at The West End Cultural Centre on November 29th and currently charting on the earshot roots/folk music charts. 2015 will kick off with an album release tour of Canada in May, Canadian festivals in the summer and an album release tour of Europe in October 2015.
