Globe Ensemble Berlin: ROMEO & JULIET by William Shakespeare
The moving tragedy of love in the best people`s theater tradition full of richness of language and live music.
The Globe Ensemble Berlin brings Shakespeare's most frequently performed tragedy to the stage in the best people’s theatre tradition: the most famous love story is told through richness of language and live music, with masquerade and fight scenes. A young love full of passion and fire meets old hatred of two rival families. The themes of young love, old hatred, rivalry, passion, fear of loss, power and powerlessness, willingness to take risks, civil courage and ultimately the question of the meaning of human existence in the face of death run through a web of unfortunate coincidences. Only in the death of the two lovers does the hatred, which has almost become a tradition, come to an end and Romeo & Juliet become martyrs in a senseless war.

Globe Berlin
Once again, Charlottenburg's Globe Berlin will be the airy venue for numerous events in a unique open-air setting. The audience sits on chairs in the middle of the action, surrounded by a catwalk stage made of stacked wooden components of the future Globe Theater. Until the (re)construction of the former Schwäbisch Hall circular theater building at the Österreichpark is possible, the catwalk stage serves as an open-air stage, where the surrounding nature and urban scenery also play a role. From June to September, Shakespeare's “Hamlet”, "A Midsummer Night's Dream", "Romeo & Juliet" (all three also in English) and "As You Like It" as well as Goethe’s “Urfaust” and Schiller's "Mary Stuart" are on the program. There are spoken word evenings and jazz concerts with The Swingin' Hermlins. Tickets from 16 to 26 Euros are available at www.globe.berlin (additional costs may apply).
